A Ramadan evening discussing the role of startups in economic and social development

A special Ramadan evening was organized in the city of Mukalla, entitled “Emerging companies and their contribution to economic and social development.
The evening was opened by Dr. Rabie Al -Obathani with a welcome speech, during which he dealt with the future of startups in Yemen, and the importance of commercial projects in advancing the national economy, stressing the need to convert the capabilities of young people into successful entrepreneurs, by linking them to experts and investors and enhancing the cooperative work environment that contributes to building strong relationships between entrepreneurs and capital owners.
A number of leaders spoke during the evening in different axes related to the entrepreneurship, where the general manager of the Bin Dalal Bank for the Microfinance of Islamic Finance, Mr. Ahmed Bahaj, pointed out the importance of self -marketing in addition to developing job skills among young people, and stressed the need to hold such events periodically, because of their great role in expanding the horizons of youth, enhancing their awareness of the entrepreneurship, and changing their way of thinking towards adopting more creative methodologies and innovation, which contributes In their empowerment to build successful and influential projects in society.
The Director General of the Iron and Steel Factory (Musk), Dr. Ahmed Barian, focused on the importance of shift towards production and enhancing the role of the private sector, as the primary engine for economic progress. He also called on young people to develop their own skills, and to pay attention to soft skills that play a pivotal role in the success of entrepreneurial projects.
For his part, the Deputy Director General of the Hadramout Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Magdi Bouabab, stressed the importance of enhancing investment awareness between the various groups of society, stressing the role of such sessions and evenings in expanding the youth’s perceptions and introducing them to investment opportunities and entrepreneurship, which contributes to creating a supportive and stimulating environment for innovation and economic growth.
The evening witnessed rich interactive discussions, in which entrepreneurs, project owners and startups participated, some of whom reviewed their personal experiences in establishing startups, referring to the most prominent challenges they faced, and the ways they adopted to overcome obstacles.
At the end of the evening, the participants unanimously agreed on the importance of framing the ideas that have been discussed, and working to implement them, while emphasizing the need to organize similar activities periodically, because of its positive impact on enhancing the culture of entrepreneurship, creating a stimulating environment for innovation and cooperation, and providing a space to exchange experiences.
