Two US officials said that an American F-18 fighter was lost in the Red Sea, on Tuesday, after it deviated from the runway of the Harry S Truman aircraft carrier, in the second of its kind in about a week.

The two officials added that the plane was unable to stop properly after landing on the aircraft carrier. One of them said that the two pilots jumped with the parachute before the plane crashed into the water, and they were recovered by a rescue helicopter.
