In a qualitative security operation, the security services in Al -Mahra Governorate were able to arrest a number of members of a gang specialized in drug smuggling in the city of Al -Ghaydah, the capital of the governorate, on Saturday evening.

The operation came after an armed clash with the gang members, which resulted in the injury of one of its members, while the security services continued their efforts to track down and seize the rest of the involved, according to what the Al -Mahra Media Police Station received.

A security source confirmed that the operation was based on accurate intelligence information, and after monitoring and follow -up to the movements of the gang members.

He explained that the security force in charge of carrying out the operation exchanged fire with the gang members, which led to the injury of one of them.

The source added that the security force found in the possession of the arrested in the possession of a quantity of diverse narcotic substances, firearms and ammunition, in addition to money.

He pointed out that preliminary investigations are underway with the arrested to reveal more details related to the activity of the gang and its extensions, in preparation for completing the legal procedures and referring them to the Public Prosecution.
