Washington prohibits the import of oil derivatives through the Houthi -controlled ports

The United States of America imposed a ban on the import of oil derivatives through the ports of Hodeidah subject to the Houthi militia in western Yemen, as of April 4, 2025, after the Houthi militia classified a foreign terrorist organization and imposed sanctions on high leaders in it.
According to a document issued by the US Ministry of Treasury, the previous permits that allowed the discharge of repeated petroleum products in Yemen, which were previously shipped before the fifth of March, will end in the middle of the night of April 4, 2025.
The decision includes preventing commercial resale or exporting oil derivatives from Yemen, in addition to prohibiting financial transfers in favor of the entities listed in the sanctions lists, with the exception of payments related to taxes, fees and public services. Any other transactions prohibited under the laws of GTSR and FTOSR unless they are not subject to exceptionally and separately.
The decision indicated that this statement replaces the previous statement No. 25 issued on January 17, 2024, and enters into force as of March 5, 2025.
