The Houthis give citizens until the beginning of May to hand over the "Starlink" devices in preparation for their confiscation

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of the internationally unrecognized Houthi group called on all citizens and legal authorities in its areas of control, to deliver all the Satalink spaceback devices and equipment "Starlink" no later than May 1, 2025.
The Ministry confirmed, in a statement on Sunday (April 27), that the delivery process takes place through the nearest office affiliated with the General Communications Corporation, with an official receipt, stressing that those who violate this will be subject to legal accountability and confiscation of equipment.
The ministry explained that, after the deadline, after the deadline ends, a field campaign will be launched in coordination with the security services to control and confiscate any "Starlink" devices circulating or used, with the imposition of fines and penalties.
This step comes after the company, "Starlink", owned by American entrepreneur Illon Musk, announced the start of providing space internet services in Yemen during September 2024, according to an agreement with the internationally recognized Yemeni government.
The General Communications Corporation in Aden officially launched the service and described it as a "future of the Internet in Yemen", without revealing the details of prices and packages so far.
Despite the availability of "Starlink" devices in the internationally recognized governorates, but their spread remained limited due to the high prices on the black market, which limited their use to limited groups.
The Starlink service is one of the latest technologies to provide high -speed Internet via satellite, and it has increased attention in Yemen, which suffers from severe weakness in the Internet services due to the constant conflict and the disruption of traditional infrastructure.
