Grendberg concludes the visit of Muscat with the meeting of Omani officials and representatives of the Houthis and Iran

The United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grendberg, concluded a visit to Muscat, where he met senior Omani officials, members of the Houthi leadership and representatives of the diplomatic corps, including senior Iranian officials.
The discussions focused on stopping hostilities between the United States and Ansar Allah, and the need to translate this to sustainable progress that benefits all Yemenis, and includes guarantees for the region and the international community.
Grendberg also dealt with regional dynamics and shared responsibility of all actors to support the de -escalation, and to enhance a political process led by the United Nations to reach a permanent and comprehensive solution to the conflict in Yemen.
During all his meetings, the Special Envoy called for the immediate and unconditional release of United Nations employees, NGOs, civil society and diplomatic missions arbitrary by Ansar Allah. He stressed that their lengthy detention is not only unjustified, but also undermines the ability of the United Nations and the international community to provide humanitarian support to millions of Yemenis.
