The Minister of Water and the Environment signs Yemen's joining of the Seventeen Biological Diversity Agreement

The Minister of Water and Environment, Eng. Tawfiq Al -Sharsbi, today, signed Yemen to join the Agreement of the High Seas, during the participation of the Republic of Yemen in the third United Nations conference for oceans held in the French city of Nice.
The Minister of Water and Environment stressed that Yemen's joining of this agreement represents an important strategic step that enhances the state’s efforts in protecting the marine environment ... stressing the need for international cooperation and joint coordination to face environmental challenges such as marine pollution, overfishing, and climate changes that threaten marine systems.
Al -Sharjabi renewed during the signing of the agreement in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Transport, Nasser Sharif, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport for Maritime Affairs and Ports Ali Al -Subhi, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Water and Environment for Environmental Affairs Abdul Hakim Alia, Yemen’s commitment to strengthening scientific research and the application of effective environmental governance in line with the sustainable development goals, especially the fourteenth goal related to underwater life.
Yemen's signing of the Upper Seas Agreement is an important step confirming Yemen's commitment to protecting marine resources for future generations, within a national vision based on enhancing environmental sustainability and ensuring a prosperous future for oceans and marine biological diversity.
