Aden .. The prices of medicines jump 100% within 6 months, amid the absence of official control

The prices of medicines in the governorate of Aden witnessed an unprecedented increase during the past six months, as the increase rate reached 100% in a large number of basic pharmaceutical items, in the absence of any official control of the relevant authorities.
Citizens and pharmacists stated that the prices of medicines have witnessed accelerated leaps since the beginning of this year, which affected chronic diseases such as diabetes and pressure, in addition to antibiotics, children's medicines and vitamins, which made many families unable to provide treatment for their members, especially in light of the difficult living conditions and the purchasing power of the citizen according to Aden tomorrow.
Pharmacists emphasized that some importing companies raised the prices of medicines in varying proportions on the pretext of the deterioration of the exchange rate of the Yemeni riyal against foreign currencies, while the markets are left prey to supply and demand without any interference from the Ministry of Health or the High Medicines Authority.
Citizens asked: Where is the role of government control? And why are the drug traffickers to control the market and raise prices without deterrence? Noting that the continuation of this situation threatens a health disaster, opens the way for the aggravation of diseases and the deterioration of the health of thousands of patients.
This height comes amid weak control over the quality of the drugs itself, and the spread of smuggled or expired varieties in some pharmacies, which increases health concerns in a society that originally suffers from the fragility of the medical sector and the lack of a health insurance system.
Citizens called on the responsible authorities in the Ministry of Health and the leadership of Aden Governorate, to quickly move to control the prices of medicines, tighten control of import companies, and announce an official declared pricing that takes into account the purchasing power of the citizen and preserves his right to decent treatment.
